The most common mistake in a 3-day Gujarat plan is trying to combine the Rann of Kutch with Dwarka–Somnath — they're 500 km apart, and you'd spend your whole trip in the car. The state rewards focus. Here are the three circuits we actually run for 3-day travellers, with honest driving times.
Circuit 1 — Heritage & the Statue of Unity (year-round)
Base: Ahmedabad. Day 1: Ahmedabad's old city — the UNESCO-listed pols, Sidi Saiyyed's jali, Sabarmati Ashram, and an evening at Manek Chowk's night food market. Day 2: drive to Kevadia (~3.5 hrs) for the Statue of Unity — viewing gallery, Sardar Sarovar Dam, and the evening laser show; overnight in Ekta Nagar. Day 3: Valley of Flowers morning, then return via Vadodara's Laxmi Vilas Palace.
Best for: first-time visitors, families with kids, anyone flying into Ahmedabad. Works in every season.
Circuit 2 — Lion & Sea: Somnath, Gir, Diu (mid-Oct to mid-Jun)
Base: fly/drive to Rajkot or Diu. Day 1: reach Somnath by afternoon — Jyotirlinga darshan, evening aarti and the Sound & Light show. Day 2: morning drive to Sasan (~1.5 hrs) for a Gir lion safari; second safari or Devalia in the afternoon. Day 3: down to Diu (~2 hrs) — fort, Naida caves, Nagoa beach and a sunset cruise before you head home.
Best for: the classic mix — one temple, one safari, one beach. This is exactly our Lion & Sea package compressed by a night.
Circuit 3 — The White Desert: Kutch (Nov to Feb/Mar)
Base: Bhuj (fly from Mumbai/Delhi, or overnight train/drive from Ahmedabad). Day 1: Bhuj — Aina Mahal, Prag Mahal, the bazaars. Day 2: craft villages of Nirona (Rogan art) and Ajrakhpur en route to Dhordo; sunset and a full-moon evening on the White Rann; overnight in the tent city or a nearby resort. Day 3: Kala Dungar viewpoint at dawn, then back via Mandvi beach if time allows.
Best for: honeymooners, photographers, anyone visiting between November and February. Book full-moon dates 2–3 months out.
What doesn't fit in 3 days
Dwarka + Somnath + Gir together (needs 5 days), Kutch + anything else (the Rann is a destination, not a stopover), and the full Saurashtra loop (that's the 11-day yatra). If a plan promises all of Gujarat in 3 days, it's a plan for seeing the inside of a car.
All three circuits above run with a private car and driver, hotels and every ticket pre-booked — see all packages or tell us your dates and we'll fit the right circuit to them.
