Car, train or flight?

By car is the most flexible, especially for families and groups. You can stop where you like and use the same car for Bet Dwarka and Nageshwar. We run our own chauffeur-driven Dzire, Ertiga, Innova Crysta and tempo travellers from Ahmedabad.

By train, several Okha-bound trains from Ahmedabad stop at Dwarka, taking around 9–10 hours. Book early for festival dates. By air, there is no airport in Dwarka. Fly to Jamnagar (about 130 km) or Porbandar (about 100 km) and drive on.

What to see in Dwarka

  • Dwarkadhish Temple: the five-storey Char Dham shrine of Lord Krishna. Darshan is usually about 6:30 AM–1 PM and 5–9:30 PM.
  • Gomti Ghat and Sudama Setu: the riverfront below the temple and the footbridge across the Gomti.
  • Rukmini Devi Temple: about 2 km outside town, known for its carvings.
  • Nageshwar Jyotirlinga: about 17 km away, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas.
  • Bet Dwarka: the island shrine off Okha, now reached by the Sudarshan Setu bridge.
  • Shivrajpur Beach: a clean Blue Flag beach about 12 km away, good for sunset.

How many days?

2 nights is right for most families: drive in on day 1 for evening darshan, do Bet Dwarka, Nageshwar and Rukmini on day 2, and drive back on day 3. Add Somnath and you have the classic Dwarka–Somnath circuit (5D/4N). Our Dwarka Somnath yatra guide covers that route in detail.

Tips from our drivers

  • Start early. Leaving at 6 AM gets you to Dwarka in time for evening darshan.
  • Don't do it as a day trip. 15+ hours of driving for a short darshan is exhausting.
  • Phones and bags aren't allowed inside Dwarkadhish temple. Use the lockers or leave them in the car.
  • Festival dates like Janmashtami and Diwali fill hotels months ahead. Book early.
  • Dress modestly for temple visits; carry a light shawl in winter.
